Petr Ježek
Born in Prague in 1965. A graduate of Prague’s University of Economics, Petr Ježek joined his country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and served as a diplomat. For some ten years, he held relatively high posts related to the country’s ties with the EU, e.g. heading the Foreign Ministry’s European Integration Department and serving as Deputy State Secretary for European Affairs. He also worked as chief of staff of then Czech Prime Minister Vladimír Špidla. In 2014, Petr Ježek was elected Member of the European Parliament on the ballot of the ANO 2011 party.

On Wednesday, at the European Parliament's Brussels plenary session, I pushed for a new Donor Conference to address the malnutrition crisis in South Sudan.
During the last mini plenary session, held in Brussels this week, I took the floor and voiced my concerns on the recent developments in South Sudan.
The security situation in the region is continuing to deteriorate, seriously hampering access by aid workers and supplies to people in need.
The conflict has disrupted many basic social services. Hundreds of thousands of children do not have access to schools and continue to suffer physically and psychologically from the violence. They are suffering badly from the worsening malnutrition crisis through high rates of disease, lack of safe water and lack of access to basic health care.
The European Parliament has a role to play in calling for more mobilisation from member states. For this reason, I took the floor and asked Johannes Hahn, the European Commission representative to push for a New Donor Conference.
