EP committee discussions on European Investment Bank and European budget discharge

The Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee discussed the report of the European Investment Bank (EIB). The report focuses on the bank’s activities in 2013 and includes guidance for future funding distributed by the EIB.

At the session, MEP Ježek voiced his view that the report should have further reference to small and medium-sized enterprises, as he believes that they are the backbone of the European economy and should be given more support and investment.

He also mentioned that energy efficiency projects in member states which have strong reliance on non-renewable energy, as is the case of the Czech Republic, should be given priority by the EIB.

MEP Ježek is also the ALDE spokesman for the EU’s budget in areas related to freedom, justice and home affairs in the LIBE committee. His task is to examine how the European budget was used in these areas in 2013 and to provide suggestions for future budget usage.
