MEPs approve amendment to EU budget framework

MEPs on Wednesday adopted the revision of the EU's Multiannual financial framework for 2014-2020. The change concerns the transfer of unused cohesion policy funds from 2014 to the 2015 EU budget. It enables the launch of EU-funded projects in member states.

It is essential for member states, such as the Czech Republic, that this amendment was approved.
The Czech Republic has currently 5 projects on hold which can now be launched following the approval of the amendment to the regulation. These projects make up roughly half of the 24 billion euros allocated to the Czech Republic.

“It is important that this revision has been approved and there are no further impediments to launching the programmes, which focus on infrastructure and services  and thus have direct impact on the lives of Czechs,” said Petr Ježek.

A similar amendment was also passed in 2008 for the financial framework of 2007-2013.
