Petr Ježek
Born in Prague in 1965. A graduate of Prague’s University of Economics, Petr Ježek joined his country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and served as a diplomat. For some ten years, he held relatively high posts related to the country’s ties with the EU, e.g. heading the Foreign Ministry’s European Integration Department and serving as Deputy State Secretary for European Affairs. He also worked as chief of staff of then Czech Prime Minister Vladimír Špidla. In 2014, Petr Ježek was elected Member of the European Parliament on the ballot of the ANO 2011 party.

We are recruiting a trainee for a fast-paced, dynamic post in the office of Petr Ježek, ANO ALDE Member of the European Parliament. The main role of the trainee will be to provide policy and administrative support.
Tasks:
- - Supporting the Member in his work on the Civil Liberties Committee;
- - Following the work of other committees and subcommittees (eg. INTA, AFET, DROI) on an ad hoc basis;
- - Liaising with Brussels-based Czech stakeholders and supporting the MEP in meetings with Czech representatives;
- - Assisting in correspondence with Czech citizens;
- - Assisting in the management of the Members inbox and Brussels diary;
- - Providing summaries and briefings based on Czech press and correspondence;
- - Assisting in preparing visits, events, questions and motions.
Essential Skills:
- - Pro-active, the ability to manage and prioritise workload, drive agendas forward and deliver results;
- - Demonstrated initiative, problem solving and judgement skills;
- - Ability to manage, analyse, summarise and present complex and technical information;
- - Excellent team working and interpersonal skills;
- - Excellent communication skills, both written and oral;

- - Fluent written and spoken Czech and English;
- - Administrative and organisational skills.
Desirable:
- - Czech mother tongue;
- - Knowledge of French and/or German;
- - Knowledge of the EU institutions;
- - Relevant academic or professional experience.
The traineeship will take place between mid January and the end of July 2016, and will be based in the European Parliament in Brussels with possible trips to Strasbourg during the Parliament's plenary sessions. The trainee will receive a monthly maintenance grant (1.000 €) as well as travel expenses reimbursement to move to Brussels. Trainees will primarily be supervised in their work by the Mr Ježek's Brussels team.
