Petr Ježek
Born in Prague in 1965. A graduate of Prague’s University of Economics, Petr Ježek joined his country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and served as a diplomat. For some ten years, he held relatively high posts related to the country’s ties with the EU, e.g. heading the Foreign Ministry’s European Integration Department and serving as Deputy State Secretary for European Affairs. He also worked as chief of staff of then Czech Prime Minister Vladimír Špidla. In 2014, Petr Ježek was elected Member of the European Parliament on the ballot of the ANO 2011 party.

MEPs from all political groups have agreed to preserve the so-called Freedom of Panorama which permits to create images of buildings, statues and other objects in public space without the consent of copyright owners.
A proposal that could in effect limit such freedom was included in a report on copyright legislation, approved this week by the Legal Affairs Committee of the European Parliament.
However, the MEPs have reached agreement to remove the controversial provision in a vote in the parliament's plenary session. Commenting on the deal, Petr Ježek said:
“I see no reason why we should go beyond existing national legislation which in the Czech Republic provides for a wide freedom of panorama. I’m glad we have reached a deal that will preserve this.”
