Petr Ježek

Born in Prague in 1965. A graduate of Prague’s University of Economics, Petr Ježek joined his country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and served as a diplomat. For some ten years, he held relatively high posts related to the country’s ties with the EU, e.g. heading the Foreign Ministry’s European Integration Department and serving as Deputy State Secretary for European Affairs. He also worked as chief of staff of then Czech Prime Minister Vladimír Špidla. In 2014, Petr Ježek was elected Member of the European Parliament on the ballot of the ANO 2011 party.

Refugees between West and East

MEP Petr Ježek is holding a public debate on the ongoing migration crisis in Europe and the different views on how to deal with it. The conference entitled “Refugees between West and East” will take place on Thursday, October 22, at Prague’s CERGE-EI center, Politických vězňů 936/7.

The debate, hosted by Petr Ježek, will feature ALDE MEPs from the EP’s Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs Committee Sophie in t‘ Veld (Netherlands), Angelika Mlinar (Austria) and Cecilia Wikström (Sweden), as well as the head of the Migration and Asylum Policy Department of the Czech Interior Ministry, Tomáš Haišman and the head of the Prague-based European Values think tank Radko Hokovský.

Members of the public are welcome to attend the conference. Due to limited space, however, please reserve your seats at prague@alde.cz. Interpreting from Czech and English will be provided.
