TAXE calls for EU effort to end tax avoidance deals

After 8 months of work, The European Parliament’s special committee on tax rulings (TAXE) approved on Monday a key report on tax ruling practices, calling for a fair and transparent EU framework that prevents companies to engage in harmful tax avoidance schemes.

The report underlines the negative impact of aggressive tax planning on public finances, and seeks to set equal rules for small and medium enterprises as well as large corporations.

“This is an ambitious report, which fully echoes the stance the European Commission took last week regarding Fiat and Starbucks tax deals. It makes it clear that the EU won't accept anymore that multinationals can benefit from privileged tax rates under the framework of state aid, while SME and citizens struggle to pay their tax bill”, Petr Ježek said.
