Petr Ježek, along with colleagues from the ALDE Group in the European Parliament, met with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko in Kiev on Monday to discuss a proposed visa-free travel deal between Ukraine and the EU.
“The encouragement Ukraine needs so much can come both from actual deeds as well as symbols. The EU-Ukraine visa-free agreement would bring both. Ukraine has been working hard to meet all the criteria, and it is now the EU’s turn to act,” said Petr Ježek who follows the visa-free arrangement between the EU and Ukraine as well as a visa suspension mechanism as ALDE shadow rapporteur.
The ALDE MEPs also discussed progress in implementation of the Minsk Agreement and cooperation between Ukraine and the EU with President Poroshenko.
The liberal MEPs also met with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin during their visit to Kiev on Tuesday. The ALDE delegation is next set to travel to the west Ukrainian city of Lvov.
