Petr Ježek

Born in Prague in 1965. A graduate of Prague’s University of Economics, Petr Ježek joined his country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and served as a diplomat. For some ten years, he held relatively high posts related to the country’s ties with the EU, e.g. heading the Foreign Ministry’s European Integration Department and serving as Deputy State Secretary for European Affairs. He also worked as chief of staff of then Czech Prime Minister Vladimír Špidla. In 2014, Petr Ježek was elected Member of the European Parliament on the ballot of the ANO 2011 party.

Hearing Mr. Avramopoulos

My question to designate commisioner Dimitris Avramopulos:

In your mission letter, the Commission President-designate says that Europe

needs to manage migration better in all its aspects. Well, I am afraid that my constituents would agree.

They often air concerns related to further immigrations to Europe. We must face it and justify our

principles and values which you were also referring to.

Therefore I have two questions. What do you intend to do in cooperation with Member States to

improve integration of immigrants for the benefit of all? How do you intend to enhance and influence

the public debate on this issue? Because if parties which are fighting on the anti-immigration

platforms start to complicate formation of governments in EU Member States, or even be part of the

governments, it will be far too late.

My question and answer of Mr. Avramopoulos you can see here:
